The Ultimate Guide to the Camp Canada Job Fairs
Get ready for one of the biggest pre-departure summer camp events of the year: the Camp Canada Job Fairs.
If you're not sure what they are, that's exactly what this guide is for. We'll cover everything you need to know in order to smash your Job Fair interview. Get ready to get yourself hired on the spot - and walk away with a whole lot of summer planning to do.
It's your time to shine.
Thinking about heading to Canada this summer? Well, it's your lucky day. It's almost time for the official Camp Canada Job Fairs. Every year, we bring Camp Directors from dozens of Canadian summer camps right to you - which means you'll have a chance to nail down your ultimate job and sort your summer plans, well before anyone else has.
Of course, there wouldn't be any point in having a Job Fair if the room was empty. Camp Directors are here to meet and hire young people just like you - and all you have to do is turn up on the day. It's your time to shine - and to be your passionate, authentic, original self. Whatever you have to offer a camp, bring it along - and after the fairs are over, get to planning your summer.
What are the Job Fairs?
The Camp Canada Job Fairs are the biggest event in the Canadian summer camp calendar. They happen every January - and they just keep getting better. Directors from Canadian summer camps will arrive to a city near you, and they've only got one thing on their to-do list. They're here to meet and hire new staff - and they've got a lot of positions to fill.
All you need to do is turn up. Then, you can choose which camp you speak to, meet Camp Directors, get hired, and find out where you're flying to - all in one day.
Top Tip: Do your research before you go. We'll release a list of the camps in attendance prior to the event, where you can find out about each camp.
Where are they?
Our big Job Fair event in Ireland is all lined up in Dublin. If you can't make that day, feel free to come to one of our other events in the UK! They're public fairs - so consider yourself invited.

What time should I arrive?
Each event may have a slightly different start time, but wherever you're headed, you'll want to beat the queue. Do yourself a favour and get to the Job Fair early - you'll have a better chance to get your summer plans sorted early on. If you're running late, that's okay - camps will be hiring all day long.
Who am I going to talk to?
You'll speak to camps face-to-face, but other than that, it's up to you. Everyone has a different approach to a Job Fair. Some favour a get-in, get-out strategy, while others will happily chat to Camp Directors, Camp Canada team members, and other people who are going to Canada for the summer. There's no wrong answer - ask us any question, or meet new mates to travel around Canada with after camp.
What should I bring?
You'll only need to bring a few things. Our Job Fairs are quite informal, so wear whatever you're comfortable in. If desired, you can also bring along a water bottle and some snacks. Other than that, just remember:
- Your application
Bring a few copies of your printed application. To print it, log in to your Camp Canada profile and click ‘view a PDF of your application’. Hit print. It's a good idea to have as much of your application filled out as possible, to show Camp Directors that you're someone who takes initiative.
- Your ‘Eh’ game
Of course, you'll want to get your summer job nailed down on the day, so being well-prepared is the best way to go. It's always good to think about what you want to say beforehand. Practice with a mate or a family member, and get comfortable answering questions about yourself. You've already made it this far - so just keep going!
What are the Job Fairs like?
For most people, the Camp Canada Job Fairs are the official transition point from nervous anticipation to full-out excitement about summer camp. It's not a competitive environment - trust us, there are lots of job roles available. There will be camps from all over Canada, and you'll be able to see which roles they're looking to fill on their job board.
If you're nervous about meeting new people, you couldn't be going to a better Fair. Canadians are a polite and welcoming bunch - so welcome to the friendliest Job Fairs in the world. The room will be full of people who are excited to meet you - especially the Camp Directors. We'll also be there - so whatever you need, let one of the team know. Also, check out the images above and below - meet Niall. He attended the 2019 Manchester Job Fair, and sent us this picture from camp in Ontario over the summer. We're not kidding when we say your summer starts at the Job Fair.
How the Job Fair works
When you arrive at the Job Fair, you'll check in, and then be met by the some of the Camp Canada team. They’ll give you a pep talk and a good dose of confidence - as well as some insider tips to help you get hired. You'll then head into the room and meet the Camp Directors - they’ll be stationed at tables with leaflets for you to learn about their camp. All you need to do is approach them for a chat!
On paper, it's your camp 'interview' - but it's more of an informal chat. You'll be able to ask as many questions about the camp as they're asking about you! Some Camp Directors will choose to hire right on the spot - if this happens for you, it's time to celebrate! If not, just keep speaking to camps until you find your match. Trust us, it's worth the wait to find out which camp you'll head to.
How do I book in which fair I’m going to?
When you start your Camp Canada application, you'll be able to navigate to the Events section on your profile. From there, you'll be able to register for whatever event you're interested in attending. We'll send you an information pack once you've done this, which will contain a list of all the camps at the Fair, so you'll be able to research them in advance.
Should I be stressed about the Job Fair?
The Job Fairs are a laid back environment, but if you're still stressing about it, that's okay! Camps want to hire people who are passionate - and you stressing over the Job Fair show that you care a lot. The best way to overcome your nerves is to take the leap and show up - and isn't that exactly the reason you want to go to Canada in the first place?
It's a big world out there, but you're about to embark on an incredible adventure that will be both thrilling and challenging - and help you grow into someone who can take on any challenge. You've already taken the first step - and the second, and the third. You're already proving yourself as someone who is capable of going out into the world, of challenging yourself, and of taking responsibility for your actions. You're exactly the type of person that Camp Canada is made for - and now it's time for the next step on your journey. We're glad you're joining us.
